KS Wellbeing: Mind and Body Fertility

Experiencing fertility issues can be an incredibly sensitive subject and generates a multitude of emotions. An increasing number of women are experiencing fertility issues, with a reported 1 in 3 couples experiencing difficulties, and a reported 1 in 6 couples seeking medical assistance. Assisted conception on a private health basis can be very costly. Specialist complementary therapies can be used and are a fraction of the cost.

Holistic or Complementary therapies in their very nature aim to address both physical and psychological issues. On a physical level, they can address underlying medical issues, including hormonal imbalance, pre existing medical conditions and the physiological effects of stress. On a psychological level they aim to address the emotional and mental issues that affect fertility.

Mind and Body Fertility incorporates Specialist Reproductive Reflexology, (Reproflexology TM), Fertility Massage Therapy (TM) as well as lifestyle, nutrition and supplement advice, aiming to address imbalances and working with the menstrual cycle. There are many reasons for sub-fertility, some with physical explanations and the majority unexplained.  Balancing hormones, reminding the body what it needs to be doing and reducing your body's negative response to stressors may help to improve your fertility.

Reproflexology TM , is also used to support couples undergoing assisted conception programmes including IUI, IVF and ICSI. Treatments work to support the treatment protocols.

At initial consultation Katrina will take a full medical history and initial assessment. A  treatment protocol specific to your needs will be identified, including nutrition and supplement advice.

Fertility Massage Therapy (TM)

Katrina has been trained by Clare Blake, founder of Fertility Massage Therapy.  Fertility Massage Therapy (FMT) is a powerful blend of cutting edge techniques that affect both the physiological and psychological issues relating to fertility.

It is a non-invasive therapy which aims to facilitate the ideal positioning of the womb, enabling the natural flow of energy and blood. It is a gentle yet deep treatment that addresses a number of areas of tension, breaking down scar tissue, alignment and congestion. By massaging the lumbar and gluteal area any tightness and tension is released from the soft tissue, ensuring the ligaments that support the organs of the lower abdominal cavity, particularly the reproductive organs are not under strain. Massaging the sacral area can release any congestion of the nerves at the point they exit the sacral bone. In doing so the nerves supplying the reproductive system are not obstructed, Lymph flow is improved and toxins flushed.

During the massage, scar tissue is broken down with the aim of releasing hardened waste material that has accumulated in the gut over many years. This encourages a natural movement within the gut, clearing physical and emotional blockages. As well as the obvious benefits of that, as the majority of Serotonin is manufactured in the digestive system, levels are likely to rise.

80% of our immune system lives in the gut, and as immunity, digestion and fertility are linked, it is important to work this whole abdominal area.

The treatment involves abdominal sacral massage, pulsing, trigger point work, rebozo techniques. Guided visualisations, reflexology and Reiki/healing can also be incorporated as deemed necessary.
